Swimming for students with physical disabilities
The course focuses mainly on practical mastery of swimming skills and their improvement. Depending on the swimming level of the students, both basic swimming skills and advanced skills are practiced, or the teaching is directed towards improving swimming performance. In addition, the rehabilitative nature of the sporting activity is also taken into account, with improvements in health (increase in mobility and joint range, increase in vital lung capacity, reduction in spasticity and improvement in motor coordination) with the practical impact of improving self-care and independence, reducing the incidence of secondary complications resulting from disability (e.g. decubitus ulcers).
In the past, swimming lessons have been implemented through the Halliwick method (Czech only) and also in cooperation with KONTAKT bB (Czech only).
The number of lecturers and assistants depends on the number and specific requirements of the students, but in general each student can have a lecturer or assistant.
Classes are held regularly once a week in the accessible pool. Lessons are often individual, with dates chosen according to the availability of the student(s). Depending on the swimming level, swimming is done in the swimming pool of the Družstevní Sports Hall in Brno-Rečkovice or in the swimming pool at Kraví Hora.
